Wild dogs resemble domestic dogs in several ways, but they are hunting machines. Giving birth to a litter of puppies usually takes place in a burrow. Because of their strong social bonds, the other members of the pack guard the puppies fiercely.

Only the alpha female gives birth, so these precious puppies are highly important to the pack. At first they suckle from the mother, while the other members of the pack do the hunting.
