Often, lionesses that give birth at roughly the same time will suckle the young of other females. Such is the strength of the bond of the lion pride. Cubs begin eating meat at an early age, sometimes as young as 3 months. Like other cats, the cubs play-fight and tag one another at an early age, honing their skills for when they are old enough to participate in hunting for prey.
