Also known as painted wolves, wild dogs are hunting machines. Prey is hunted by carefully coordinated hunts, working together. Additionally, they run down their prey until it tires. This can last for many kilometers.
Traditionally, their range is huge. Up to 40 square kilometres can be the full range of wild dogs, although this has been known to increase or decrease depending upon the number of dogs in a pack.
Mating is left to the alpha male and alpha female of the wild dog pack. The other pack members support them and help raise the cubs.
